The Joint Commission, Institute for Healthcare Improvement and Strategic Healthcare Group are each taking their own steps to improve the quality of healthcare for patients. The Joint Commission
There is growing concern related to the overuse of various treatments, procedures, and tests in health care. To address this serious safety and quality problem, The Joint Commission is proposing a new National Patient Safety Goal (NPSG) on the topic of overuse including blood products. Strategic Blood Management encourages you to review and provide feedback on the proposed patient standards.

Institute for Healthcare Improvement
The Institute for Healthcare Improvement is hosting their 23rd Annual National Forum on Quality Improvement in Health Care December 4-7 in Orlando, Florida. The Forum is known as the “premier” meeting place, with over 6,000 health care leaders in attendance, for people committed to the mission of providing safe, effective patient care at a reasonable cost.
