Hospital Council of Northern and Central California announced that it has signed an agreement with Strategic Healthcare Group LLC as an endorsed business partner, promoting the use of its highly acclaimed Strategic Blood Management™ System to member hospitals. The Hospital Council of Northern and Central California is a nonprofit trade association comprised of hospitals and health systems ranging from small, rural hospitals to large, urban medical centers, representing more than 38,000 licensed beds in192 hospitals across 50 California counties.

The Joint Commission has promulgated blood management performance measures designed to create a nationwide approach to maximize patient care and transfusion safety. These measures will be used to standardize the way in which blood utilization and blood management are assessed in the hospital setting. The Joint Commission is currently seeking hospitals to act as alpha test sites to evaluate the measures.
