Hospital Council of Northern and Central California Announces
Strategic Healthcare Group LLC as an Endorsed Business Partner

INDIANAPOLIS, December 15, 2009- Hospital Council of Northern and Central California announced that it has signed an agreement with Strategic Healthcare Group LLC as an endorsed business partner, promoting the use of its highly acclaimed Strategic Blood Management™ System to member hospitals. The Hospital Council of Northern and Central California is a nonprofit trade association comprised of hospitals and health systems ranging from small, rural hospitals to large, urban medical centers, representing more than 38,000 licensed beds in192 hospitals across 50 California counties.

“Strategic Healthcare Group is a welcome partner in our mission for healthcare innovation, and we look forward to promoting their products and services with our hospital members to help improve blood management practices. Improving blood utilization is a ‘triple play’ for hospitals since it simultaneously reduces supply chain costs, improves quality, and reduces transfusion-related adverse events such as hospital-acquired infections,” said Art Sponseller, President and CEO of the Hospital Council. “The Hospital Council clinical and quality staff is particularly delighted that Dr. Hannon and his team of experts at Strategic Healthcare Group will be working closely with our member hospitals on this important area of patient care.”

“We are honored to be selected as one of only a handful of endorsed business partners for the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California,” said Timothy Hannon, MD, MBA, President and Founder of Strategic Healthcare Group. "Rising blood costs, intermittent blood shortages and quality of care concerns are encouraging hospitals across the nation to find more efficient ways to manage blood resources, and California is no exception. There is a growing demand for our blood management services because we help hospitals develop safe, efficient and effective blood utilization practices to improve the quality of patient care. At the same time, our services benefit local communities through better stewardship of the blood supply and lower healthcare costs."

The Strategic Blood Management™ System employs a suite of tools including physician-led consulting and best-in-class blood management informatics. The informatics platform includes a web-based portal for learning management (Blood Management University™), knowledge management (Blood Management Exchange™) and data management (BloodStat™ Reporting Services). Hospitals using the Strategic Blood Management™ System have achieved sustainable reductions in blood utilization from 13 % to 30% resulting in substantial savings of healthcare resources and millions of healthcare dollars.
