Dr. Sommers is a board-certified anesthesiologist in private practice, with several years of law practice experience. He is Dr. Hannon’s partner in Strategic Healthcare Group LLC, and also serves as Vice-President of Corporate Affairs. He is an expert in risk management, medical malpractice, informed consent, ethics, patient safety, and the medical-legal aspects of blood component and drug therapy. He has done ground-breaking work in the areas of informed consent and medical-legal liability concerning transfusions. Dr. Sommers has given numerous presentations at national meetings on patient safety issues, informed consent, and physician, hospital, and blood industry liability related to transfusion therapy.
